Places to visit in the centre of Bucharest

Updated: Oct 20, 2020

1. Artichoke Social House

Having heard of this location while overhearing someone talk about it at Cismigiu park, roughly 10 minutes away, I decided to give it a try. The coffee shop is located on the side of a beautiful historic building, housing shops such as Libraria Humanitas (which I strongly suggest entering by the way). The small, hipster-like terrace overlooks the Kretzulescu church, built in 1772, as well as a small park that is always surveyed by the elderly, either playing chess, walking with their grandchildren, or tranquilly feeding the pigeons. Open from 10:00 till 00:00, from Monday to Saturday, and from 12:30 till 00:00 on Sunday, the coffee shop curates an entire experience, from the ambient jazz lofi, to the simplistic benches, as well as decorations, Source:Artichoke Social House

Artichoke is an ideal place to visit. The homemade tonic and colas, as well as the exquisite coffee, transcends this place as a staple to anyone that desires a break from the noise of the urban lifestyle, and seclude themselves in what, arguably, is the best coffee in Bucharest.

2, Aniticariat UNU

Anticariat UNU is a second-hand bookstore located next to Piata Universitatii. The seemingly “under the radar'' location, as well a quaint looking exterior, makes this an urban explorer’s dream. This minute looking antique shop, with old chess boards, silver cutlery and dusty, life size knight’s armor turns into a maze as you find the creaky

staircase leading to the

underground level. The underground level is truly where Anticariat UNU shines. Rows upon rows of bookshelves transport you to a different time, a different place. A new dimension. While finding books you will fall in love with might sound like a difficult endeavour, the shop’s staff are friendly and eager to assist anyone who might require a little guidance within the world of literature. From writers such as Franz Kafka to Albert Camus, Anticariat UNU has something for everyone.

3, Animaletto Pizza Bar

Animaletto Pizza Bar is an Italian fusion restaurant, mostly focused on pizza. Located next to Piata Romana, the restaurant is close to the metro as well as the bus line. The red brick building featuring gigantic, yet minimalist windows encapsulates the essence of what Animaletto is; simple, traditional

food, with a contemporary touch. A

location that fits any ocasión from a casual study session to a first date, the ambiental soft jazz provides an atmosphere that is perfectly curated for teens and young adults (yet doesn’t now exclude others) to create the perfect vibe for a social outing and a wonderful selection of meals.
